A Mindful Moment in 10 Minutes or Less: Affirmations

I love using affirmations as a mindfulness technique. This can be difficult, especially if you don’t yet believe what you are affirming. But I promise it will make you feel better.

For this technique, please use a beaded necklace or bracelet. Just the practice of moving the beads through your fingers will help you relax and focus on your affirmations. I especially like to use this technique with a mala necklace, as it provides a good structure for this exercise.

Prepare 5 affirmation statements. For example, “I am beautiful,” “I am strong,” “I am smart,” “I am happy,” and “I am healthy.”

There are typically 108 beads on a mala necklace, so you will repeat each affirmation 5 times. Touch one bead at a time and repeat your first affirmation. Then touch the second bead and repeat your second affirmation and so on. Go around the string of beads until you have 3 beads remaining. For the last 3 beads, smile and affirm, “This is a beautiful day, this is a beautiful day, this is a beautiful day.”

I hope this helps you relax and brings positive energy into your day.

Leave a note in the comments and let me know how you feel after this exercise.
